Treats

If you guessed what event the templates from yesterday were for, this is to let you know what I'm cutting out with them. If you are going to be in Lindstrom....shhhhh don't tell!

They're not done yet, but will be by Saturday!

What????

If you can guess what event these two templates are for, you've probably been invited to be in Lindstrom this weekend.

Mmmmmmmm COOKIES!!!

I've been obsesed with cookies lately. More the decorating than the eating. This is the most recent batch. I decided to make half the recipe since I wasn't so sure about it. It made the whoppin' 6 cookies (yeah, John & I ate 2 before I could take pics.) I'm giving my sister the recipe so she can mess with it. She is WAY more the baker than I am. She bakes, I decorate. It wasn't a bad cookie to start with, but I bet she can improve it 10-fold.

There is currently one left. Wish I hadn't promised to bring my boss one.

Brief Update

Wow. I'm not very good at consistancy with this whole blogging thing. But there is a good reason excuse. My sister and I are working on a business plan to open a store. Hopefully I'll have more to share soon.

Fluffy Valentine Wreath

I found this super cute wreath Here via One Pretty Thing. And since I'm attempting to do more seasonal decorating, I thought I'd give it a try.

So I went to Michael's to get the stuff, but, of course there were NO heart shaped wreath forms. I could have bought a grapevine one, but those smelled funny. So I figured I go to another store later this week. But, instead....
Using the back of an old desk calendar and an X-acto, I made a heart shaped form. Then taped some rolled up newspaper to the heart and covered it with red duct tape. Yep! Using what I have cuz I am NOT going out in all this snow!

Then I just hot glued the feather boa to my form and tied it up with a sheer ribbon.

Underneath is my Martha Stewart glitter painting. Mine is way fluffier and I'm debating whether or not to trim it. I'll ask the husband for his opinion when he gets home (Valentine's Day is his birthday, after all.)

2010 Super Bowl and the start of a new blog

Wow. The Saints won. I was hoping that would be the case since they beat my Vikings in the playoffs.

So... over a year ago, we bought our house. It was built in 1937. It has some fun quirks. And some very old windows. I love the 'wiggly' glass. My husband hates the air leaks. We've done some updates. The kitchen being number one. Originally it was ketchup and mustard with dark eggplant purple. Not cute. I'll share pics when I get them off the old computer. Anyway, we scraped off the old paint (because it came off very easily at the beginning) then repainted it to go with the super cute vintage dishes I bought (Blue Heaven, I totally stole the picture of a plate from Retro Life http://retrolife.typepad.com/my_wegblot/2006/03/blue_heaven_dis.htmlpepad.com/my_wegblot/2006/03/blue_heaven_dis.html)

I then found out that the Pantone color of the year for spring 2010 was the same turquoise blue we painted the kitchen. Seems that I make design decisions that then become very popular. Too bad I don't have a way share my ideas before everyone knows that they are popular. OH....that's right! Now I have a blog!....yeah. So, now that I share ideas noone else will publish them......this could be fun!

Anyway......S...L...O...W...L...Y....... we are making our house a home. I see so many wonderful blogs, with such wonderful, low-cost, fabulous designs, that make me feel confident that I can accomplish the goal of a home. Unfortunately, I've been unemployed for over a year, so our improvements need to be VERY budget friendly. Let's see how this goes?
